Samuel K. Solesi, Jr. joined T&M in July 2017. He brings more than a dozen years of auditing, compliance and fraud-detection experience, focused since 2010 in the health care industry. At T&M, Mr. Solesi, in collaboration with an Independent Fiduciary, manages the financial affairs of a multi-million dollar employee health and welfare fund in New York City. In his capacity as a forensic accountant, Mr. Solesi investigates cases involving theft of companies’ inventories by employees, fraudulent employee-vendor relationships, fictitious revenues generated by a management company, New York Wage Theft violations and other matters.
Before joining T&M, Mr. Solesi was a Special Investigator for the VNSNY CHOICE Health Plans. He evaluated the veracity of thousands of submitted claims from this Medicare Advantage company, as well as claims from its parent, the Visiting Nurse Service of New York, the country’s largest non-profit home health care organization, becoming an expert in detecting aberrant and fraudulent billing patterns and referring multiple cases of suspected and confirmed fraud, waste and abuse (FWA) to local, federal and state regulatory agencies.
Prior to the VNSNY, Mr. Solesi was a Compliance Investigator with Affinity Health Plan in the Bronx, New York, where he investigated non-compliance and FWA by employees, members and providers. He also served in the New York State Office of the Medicaid Inspector General as a Senior Auditor/Fraud Investigator, conducting multimillion dollar audits of Medicaid providers. Mr. Solesi began his professional life as a Senior Staff Accountant with Nausch, Hogan & Murray. Inc., a leading insurance and reinsurance broker in Manhattan.
Mr. Solesi earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from Brooklyn College in 2004 and returned to his alma mater for his Master of Arts Degree in Accounting, awarded in 2011.
