On Monday, May 18, 2020, Lauren Mack, Senior Managing Director of Investigations, will present Healthcare Fraud 101 at the Business Valuation/Litigation Services Conference: Mastering the Fundamentals of Accounting Standards, hosted by The New York State Society of CPAs (NYSSCPA) and the Foundation for Accounting Education.
The conference is aimed at professionals working in business valuation, litigation services, digital assets, fair value accounting/auditing, business exit and succession, and estate planning who need to stay current with the latest developments. Updates on valuation, investigation and litigation will be included in presentations and participants may be eligible to receive Continuing Professional Education (CPE) credits.
Ms. Mack's presentation will provide a high-level overview of healthcare fraud, waste and abuse for accountants. She will offer insight into the latest trends and updates, how such fraud is committed and the potential penalties for such violations. The False Claims Act; Stark Law; Anti-Kickback Statute; and life after the Escobar decision will be discussed, and the information she offers may be useful to accountants in advising and educating their clients.
